Industry · First-time founders

Starting out? Start on the right footing.

Choosing a legal form, setting the business up, first steps with the DGI and CNSS, first annual accounts: the first twelve months decide a great deal. We have been guiding founders since 1992 — no jargon, published prices.

Come with your idea, however vague: that is exactly what the first meeting is for.

The founder's path

From idea to first annual accounts, in six steps.

A guided path, in order — each step sets up the next.

01

Choosing the right legal form

Auto-entrepreneur, sole trader, SARL AU, SARL: the choice rests on your forecast figures and the customers you are targeting, not on a hunch. We compare, you decide.

AE · SARL AU · SARL

02

Putting numbers on the project

A simple, honest forecast: what you need to sell to live on, what the structure costs, when cash will be tight. Essential if you are looking for financing.

Forecast · Break-even

03

Setting up the structure

A turnkey company at 4,000 MAD excl. tax — certificat négatif (name-reservation certificate), articles, RC, IF, CNSS, legal notices — or auto-entrepreneur registration if that is the right call.

Formation · 4,000 MAD excl. tax

04

Getting properly set up

Bank account, SIMPL and Damancom enrolment, compliant invoices, first contracts: the administrative foundations, laid once and laid well.

Bank · SIMPL · Invoices

05

Keeping books from month one

Accounting starts with the first invoice — not with the first reminder. The subscription starts at the real level of your activity: 1,000 MAD excl. tax / month for a young file.

Bookkeeping · From 1,000 MAD excl. tax

06

Getting through the first year-end

The first financial year closes, the first liasse is filed, and we read together what the figures say about the project — the real starting point for year two.

First annual accounts

Still torn between staying employed and going it alone, or between two ideas? Come anyway: a free first conversation with an accountant beats six months of online forums.

Where do you start when you want to set up a business?

With the legal form — because it determines everything else: your tax position, your social cover, your commercial credibility and your fixed costs. The right method comes down to three questions: how much do you expect to invoice in year one? To whom — consumers or businesses? With what risks and what costs? The answers almost always point to the right form. That is what the first meeting is for, free of charge, and you leave with a clear answer — not with a brochure.

What does launching a business really cost?

For a company: 4,000 MAD excl. tax in formation fees, the administrative charges paid to the various bodies, domiciliation (a registered business address) if you have no premises of your own, then the running cost — bookkeeping from 1,000 MAD excl. tax/month, and taxes tied to your actual activity. For an auto-entrepreneur: almost nothing to start with, but caps and limits. We draw up the full budget for the first twelve months, figure by figure, before you commit: nobody should set up a structure without knowing what it costs to own.

Do you need a business plan to get started?

For yourself: a simple forecast is often enough — how much you need to sell to cover your costs and pay yourself, and when cash will be tight. For a bank or an investor: yes, a proper structured business plan, with assumptions that stand up. We produce both, sized to the real need — there is no point paying for a fifty-page study to open a neighbourhood shop.

Which founders' mistakes do we see most often?

Always the same ones, for thirty years: choosing a legal form on a neighbour's advice rather than on your own figures; mixing the personal and the business account from month one; discovering tax deadlines once they have passed; and waiting for the first audit before keeping any books. Every one of them can be headed off in a single scoping meeting and a few good habits — which is exactly what this founder's path is for.

Worth knowing
The legal form can change

Starting as an AE then moving to a company is a normal path — planned from the outset, it costs almost nothing in friction.

Administrative charges

OMPIC, registration duty, court registry, notices: paid to the various bodies, listed separately on the quote.

Financing

A business plan and a bank file are dedicated advisory engagements, priced separately if you need them.

The first subscription

A young file starts at the entry rate — the fee follows real growth, never the other way round.

Who it's for

The founders we work with.

01

First venture

You have never set up a business: the guided path is made for you — every step explained, nothing assumed.

02

Employee going solo

Transition prepared, the option of combining both checked, the switch made at the right moment: we make the move a safe one.

03

MRE, back home or at a distance

Formation and ongoing support handled remotely for Moroccans living abroad, with power of attorney for signatures: your project in Morocco moves forward without the back-and-forth.

04

Second venture

You have been in business before — sometimes with the scars to show for it: this time we structure it better, on the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Founders: your questions.

Auto-entrepreneur or company: how do you decide quickly?

Three criteria settle most of the decision: your expected revenue against the caps on the AE status, the kind of customers you serve — businesses prefer to be invoiced by a company — and the weight of your real costs, which only the company regime lets you deduct. Half an hour into a first meeting, the answer is usually clear.

How long between the decision and the first invoice?

For an auto-entrepreneur: a few days. For a company: one to two weeks in practice, once the documents are gathered — certificat négatif, articles, registration. Either way, we give you a realistic timetable at the scoping stage.

Can you set up without much capital?

Yes: the SARL and the SARL AU have no legal minimum share capital, and the auto-entrepreneur has no capital at all. What matters is that the budget for the first twelve months — formation, running costs, start-up cash — is covered. That is the budget we draw up with you before setting anything up.

I need a bank loan to get started: in what order should I do things?

The forecast first, the bank next, the formation when it is actually needed: a solid bank file rests on a costed business plan and a structure that fits the project. We prepare the file and support you in dealing with the banks — see advisory & support.

What happens if the project doesn't work out?

We talk about it openly from the start: an auto-entrepreneur simply deregisters; a company is closed through a proper liquidation, at a cost known in advance. Planning the exit does not jinx anything — it is just good management.

Do you support businesses after formation too?

That is really the heart of the relationship: forming a company takes two weeks, running one takes years. Bookkeeping, deadlines, payroll, advice — the firm remains your single point of contact, at the same published prices as everyone else.
